Payroll Retirement Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY
- Seeking a Payroll Retirement Specialist to perform all CalSTRS and CalPERS state retirement reporting for approximately 22 client schools.
- Prior school district, charter, county office of education, or state retirement experience required.
- Prior public school or non-profit financial experience and/or HR/PR experience a plus but not required

- Perform specialized retirement reconciliations and reports for State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS), Public Employees Retirement Systems (PERS), for client schools.

- Two (2) years direct prior payroll and or state retirement experience required.

Payroll Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY

School Business Associate
POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a School Business Associate to join our Finance Team, which oversees and maintains the overall fiscal condition of our client schools. In this role, you will be working collaboratively with our AP, Payroll, and Admin Teams as well as the School’s management and governing board. School Business Associates provide critical support and assistance to our CFO and Client Fiscal Services Directors by maintaining up-to-date and accurate financial information for our client schools, as well as assisting our schools with other reporting, compliance, and related client needs.
As a School Business Associate, you are expected to be a sharp, capable, self-sufficient individual with an entrepreneurial mindset. In this position, core competencies include attention to detail, Microsoft Excel proficiency, and financial analysis skills with the ability to think independently and creatively to ensure our schools succeed. A successful School Business Associate can count on advancement opportunities to a Client Fiscal Services Director within 2-3 years. This leadership position in the Finance Team serves as a direct liaison with our clients.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work closely with Finance Team members to ensure our client schools have accurate and up-to-date fiscal information.
- As a member of the Finance Team, actively participate in improving and refining our services to our client schools through regular meetings, snapshots, and projects.
- Work collaboratively and interactively with other School Business Associates and other DMS staff to ensure accuracy of all DMS output, including payroll and AP data, to our client schools.
- Assist senior Finance Team members with preparing and updating monthly financial reports for client schools.

Client Fiscal Services Director
POSITION SUMMARY
40+ person consulting firm providing business and administrative services to public charter schools is seeking an additional Client Fiscal Services Director to assist in financial and operational oversight and support for client schools, joining a twelve-person Finance Team. Relevant financial experience required. Prior school, governmental or non-profit financial experience a plus but not required. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Works with clients as primary liaison, resolving escalated issues, preparing financial reports, and attending client meetings to present and discuss financial information. Responsible for development of client budgets and regular financial update reports. Provides monthly financial reports to clients. Monitors client reporting compliance and assists in filing completion when necessary. Understands and provides guidance to other staff regarding accounting and financial recordkeeping principles and procedures. Maintains position management and provides up to date budget staffing estimates as needed. Coordinates annual audit paperwork for client schools.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Primary client management liaison with client school management and governing board.
- Primary responsibility for developing and updating school budgets for 6-8 client schools.
- Reviewing budgets and actuals for all schools on an ongoing basis for accuracy and proper coding, entering adjusting journal entries as needed.
- Working collaboratively and interactively with DMS staff, including existing Finance Team members.
- Support and oversee AP and Payroll Staff with timely processing of AP and Payroll tasks required for overall budget management.
- Preparing monthly financial reports using Excel template for each school, including statement of activities (P&L/income statement), balance sheet, and monthly cash flow statement.
- Analyzing budget trends and patterns and advising client schools of developing variances between budgets and actuals.
- Creating new budget codes as needed at request of client schools. Work closely with Finance Team to ensure proper budget controls are in place.
- Reviewing and approving outgoing payment batches and incoming cash receipts prepared by AP/Payroll staff.
- Completing and filing various compliance reports, including state budget reports, grant expenditure reports, and other state and federal reporting requirements.
